Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
GiG is operated by SCHELLES LLP, a Limited Liability Partnership registered in India at Suite 209, Door No. 23/757/C3, Kizhekkethala Bridge, Down Hill, Malappuram, Kerala 676519, India (GSTIN 32AFYFS1542L1ZH). In this policy, "we", "us" and "GiG" mean SCHELLES LLP. We are the data fiduciary responsible for the personal data described below, and you can reach us at thegig@schelles.in.
2. Information We Collect
To create a verified profile and match you with jobs, we collect your name, date of birth, phone number, email, address and exact location, a government ID, a live selfie, and details about your skills, experience, and availability. If you hire on GiG, we also collect your business details and the information needed to verify your company. We also collect information your device generates as you use the app — a device identifier and push notification token, app version and operating system, and basic logs of errors and activity needed to keep the service running and secure.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use this information to verify your identity, show you and employers relevant matches nearby, run payments, keep the platform safe, and improve GiG. Your exact location is used to power the "jobs near you" / "workers near you" matching — it is never shown publicly.
4. Device Permissions
The app asks for these permissions. Each is optional at the operating-system level, but declining one will disable the feature that depends on it. You can change your mind at any time in your device settings.
- Camera — to capture your live selfie and photograph your ID during verification.
- Location — to show jobs and workers near you and, while a job is active, to share your location with that employer. We do not track your location in the background when no job is active.
- Notifications — to alert you about job offers, application updates, messages and payments. This requires storing a push token for your device.
- Photos and files — only for the documents and profile photo you choose to upload.
5. Service Providers
We do not sell your data. We do share it with a small number of service providers who process it only on our instructions, under contract, and only to run the parts of GiG they power:
- Cloud hosting and database providers, which store the platform's data.
- Media storage, for profile photos and uploaded documents.
- Email and SMS providers, to send verification codes and account notifications.
- Push notification and authentication infrastructure.
- Mapping and geocoding providers, to turn an address into a location for matching.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate fraud, protect someone's safety, or establish or defend a legal claim.
6. What We Never Do
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not share your phone number, ID documents, or exact address with an employer or worker beyond what is needed to complete a job you have accepted, and only after both sides are verified.
7. Data Security
Your data — including ID documents and selfies — is encrypted in transit and access is restricted to the systems and staff needed to verify accounts and resolve disputes. Identity documents are never served publicly; they are delivered only through an authenticated request by someone entitled to see them. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your personal data we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.
8. Where Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored on servers operated by our hosting providers. Some of our service providers operate infrastructure outside India, which means your information may be processed abroad. Where that happens, we rely on the provider's contractual data-protection commitments and transfer data only to jurisdictions permitted under applicable Indian law.
9. Data Retention
We keep your profile and job history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your profile from the platform promptly and delete or anonymise the underlying records, except where we must keep them longer — records of completed jobs and payments are retained for the period required by tax and accounting law, and verification and safety records are kept for a reasonable period to resolve disputes and prevent fraud.
10. Your Rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to access a summary of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased, to nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become incapacitated, and to complain about how we handle your data. Most of your profile can be reviewed and corrected at any time from your account settings.
To delete your account and data, use gig.schelles.in/account-deletion, or the delete-account option in your account settings. To exercise any other right, write to us at thegig@schelles.in. We respond within 30 days.
11. Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar local storage that are strictly necessary to run the site — to keep you signed in, remember your progress through sign-up, and keep the service secure. We do not use cookies for advertising or to build a profile of you across other websites.
12. Children's Privacy
GiG is only for users aged 15 and above, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 15. If you are under 18, you may use GiG only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, and only for work that Indian law permits at your age. A parent or guardian can contact us at any time to review, correct or delete their child's data.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as GiG grows. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page will be updated.
14. Grievance Officer
If you have a complaint about how we handle your personal data, you can escalate it to our Grievance Officer, who is required to acknowledge it within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days: Grievance Officer, SCHELLES LLP, Suite 209, Door No. 23/757/C3, Kizhekkethala Bridge, Down Hill, Malappuram, Kerala 676519, India — thegig@schelles.in. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
